HLMT’s Liberian representative, Abdul-rahman Bah made a presentation to the North Notts Area Church Partnership Joint Service on 29th March 2025. Stella Nickolay introduced Abdul and the work of HLMT more generally. The focus of Abdul’s talk was the roles he performs to support HLMT in Liberia. These include:
- selecting students – Abdul attends college-run interviews to ensure that the students chosen meet 3 HLMT criteria – that they’re academically good, could not study without a grant, and want to work in rural Liberia
- selecting Lapa fabrics which are appropriate for turning into the merchandise that HLMT makes and sells in UK
- making contact with some key stakeholders in Liberia and facilitating contact between them and HLMT trustees
- Attendance at graduation ceremonies to extend HLMT trustee congratulations to graduating students.
